About Fred Eiland

I was born in Pine Bluff, Arkansas to a single mother. My family has lived in Columbia for 41 years and I'm a member of the first graduating  class of Wilde Lake High School. My Bachelor's Degree is from Metro State College in Denver Colorado . My major was Biology and my  minor was Chemistry. I have lived all over the United States and decided about twenty years ago to move back to Howard County. I moved back because of the many opportunities Howard County  had to offer me. My life met a major turning point eleven years ago, my wife passed away while being 27 weeks pregnant with my twins. She blessed me with three beautiful children who are all middle students now. ( 6th grade twins and one 7th grader) One of the biggest challenges of my life has been raising our three kids alone.  One of my twins has been diagnosed with having ADHD. You find out a lot about yourself when life hands you hard challenges. My kids are the very reason I'm running for House of Delegates. I spent 27 years in the grocery business with my last job being the General Manager of a Giant Food Store. As my twins entered Kindergarten, it became necessary for me to stay closer to home. I began giving back to my community in 2009 when I  became the Stevens Forest PTA President and joined the Village Board of Oakland Mills as a member the same year. For the last three and a half years  I have worked as the Oakland Mills Community Organizer. As a Community Organizer, I  have  dedicated myself to solving community problems by service and advocacy with the knowledge that organizing can bring hope and change to a community. I'm the right person to represent you in the House of Delegates, District 13. It is time for a new voice in our community.
